Biography
In 1952, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at VUT in Brno (then the Technical University of Dr. E. Beneš) and subsequently completed postgraduate studies. From 1952 to 1955, he worked as an assistant to the prominent Brno architect, Professor Bohuslav Fuchs, at the Institute of Urban Construction at the same faculty.
After returning to Olomouc in 1956, he worked for ten years at Stavoprojekt. He then served at the Department of the Chief Architect until its dissolution in 1970. From 1971 to 1975, he spent a transitional period of normalization at the company Rudné doly Jeseník at the technical development department for family houses OKAL in Hněvotín. It was not until 1976 that he found his true calling in the newly established Olomouc studio SÚRPMO (State Institute for the Reconstruction of Historic Towns and Objects), becoming its director in 1984. From 1982 to 1988, he also lectured externally at the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education of Palacký University.
He realized both new construction projects, such as the Bedřich Václavka University Dormitories, and restoration projects of historic buildings, not only in Olomouc. Notably, he reconstructed the Klášterní Hradisko, the archbishop's residence, and the Conservatory of the Evangelical Academy on Wurmova Street. He also participated in the renovation of the outer shell of St. Wenceslas Cathedral. His urban planning focus was applied in the creation of land use plans for the regeneration of historic centers in the cities of Olomouc, Šternberk, Nový Jičín, Šumperk, Hranice, and Valašské Meziříčí.
