3DCP Bus Stop in Bratislava

At COLLARCH, we continually explore innovative intersections of technology, architecture, and urban design. The Lipského bus stop in Bratislava, developed through close collaboration with Šebo-Lichý Architects and ICE Industrial Services, exemplifies our commitment to architectural experimentation, environmental responsibility, and technical precision.
The project emerged from the expansion of Harmincova Street, significantly enhancing accessibility and public transit conditions in the rapidly developing Čerešne district. Positioned strategically at the entrance to this new urban area, our bus stop design embodies a seamless blend of function, form, and innovative construction techniques.
Our design solution—a parametrically generated, 3D-printed concrete shell—adapts elegantly to its urban context. The elliptical cylinder’s orientation responds precisely to pedestrian flows and sightlines, maximizing visibility for approaching buses while protecting passengers from weather conditions. Its subtle tilt toward the west cleverly mitigates exposure to intense afternoon sun and prevailing winds, while perforations on the southeastern side increase transparency and security.
The bus stop’s distinctive, layered texture, created through precise 3D concrete printing, evokes natural geological formations. Complementing the concrete shell, a minimalist steel and glass roof frames the sky above and uses reflective Stopsol glass to minimize heat absorption, creating a comfortable waiting environment year-round. Integrated lighting and carefully designed seating—also crafted through 3D printing and finished with tactile larch wood—complete the thoughtful, user-centric design.
