Is it ethical, or economically and ecologically sustainable to tear down the old and build new? The client's request was to bring together three different operations that functioned in different locations and create a new headquarters in an old and unused building. In the renovation, we wanted to rigorously articulate the original massing solution of the building, while making the most of the existing structural elements and tectonics of the building as a means of expression, and to cultivate the building both externally and internally with solid materiality. Through the austerity of the architecture and execution, we aimed to contribute to sustainable spatial culture in the Krásna Hôrka area and highlight the open possibilities for valuing seemingly worthless buildings.
