The construction was completed a year after the commission selected its architect. The building, characterized by functionalist purity, is located in the historic center of Turku. It is one of the few vertically designed libraries. It is very cleverly positioned in the middle of the plot, set back from the street line, which has allowed for the preservation of already grown trees on the plot. The object is characterized by its delicate white plaster and carefully composed facade, from which only 4 rectangular balconies, a chimney, and an elevator shaft protrude. The building was expanded in the 1950s by Woldemar Boeckman.
