The task was to construct a bowling center and restaurant, maximizing the use of the original agricultural building. The philosophy of the solution was to physically and spatially preserve the original barn structure, cut it radically along its entire length, and connect it with a new building that is longitudinally added to the original structure. There is no contrast between the old and new; instead, there is a whole where this boundary is indistinguishable. The original stone nave of the barn is utilized for the four main bowling lanes, and part of the barn's roof frame is raised, opened, and horizontally extended over the newly added building. The crown of the original barn's wall forms the railing of the restaurant. Thus, a visitor to the restaurant actually peeks through the open roof frame into the original barn – the bowling lanes. The additional spaces of the restaurant utilized the remnants of the agricultural buildings adjoining the barn. The differences in the heights of the original structures are reflected in the interior of the restaurant. Visually, the main materials of the construction are the original repaired stone walls of the barn, combined with new and old wooden structural elements painted in a blue-gray-green stain. Both are complemented by large blocks of yellow-beige cast concrete. Emphasis is placed on the muted colors and patina of the materials.
