The apartment on Zborovská Street is located in the attic of a Art Nouveau house. It is designed as an open duplex 2+kk with a terrace. The original layout was not significantly altered, only the living space in the upper floor was expanded by removing a small bathroom and a fireplace.
The apartment was originally equipped with a solid staircase and a MDF panel floor. The walls were decorated with rustic-style cladding, including storage spaces.
The task was to brighten the apartment, unify it, suitably modify the layout, and connect it more with the terrace. The apartment is intended for short-term rental, so there was no need to address larger storage spaces. The furniture selected reflected the classic form of Czech retro furniture, which was suitably refurbished for the purpose of furnishing the apartment. Simple industrial elements connect the whole apartment. The main emphasis is on the installed staircase and the adjoining landings, which replaced the original massive two-flight staircase.
Color accents are provided by paintings from Martin Feri and Michaeli Stefanidu.
The construction part included demolition work, adjustments to electrical installations, floor replacements, drywall ceilings, and the dismantling of the staircase and built-ins. All floors were unified in the execution of solid oil-treated oak, including new step boards for access to the terrace.
The excavated space on the upper floor serves as a bedroom with a view of the terrace. The terrace was equipped with a new surface and electrical installation. It is situated to maximize the view of Hradčany and Petřín.
