The municipality of Staříč invited several architectural and design offices to participate in a competition for the planned housing building for seniors. Our proposal was evaluated as the best and was further developed and prepared for implementation.
The building consists of two separate volumes connected by a hall, which contains communal spaces. Our aim was to design an environment where seniors would feel at home, but at the same time, it would serve as an impulse for their integration into community life, and conversely, to allow the community's life to flow into the building. For this reason, for example, the ground floor of the building is designed to include services not only for the residents but also to be accessible to the wider public.
For the municipality, this is one of the most important and largest investment projects of the post-revolutionary period. From the beginning of the study to the completion of the construction, nine years have passed. During the two years of construction and more than a hundred inspection days, we had the opportunity to experience both pleasant and unpleasant atmospheres.
