Hotel rooms are located in the former Hotel Měšťák, in the very center of Český Krumlov. Originally three separate Gothic houses from the 14th century were, in the 1950s, connected into one complex. Unfortunately, the buildings have undergone several major renovations during their existence (most recently in the 90s), during which most of the original elements were removed, with a few exceptions. One such exception is the "presidential suite," where the carved Renaissance beam ceiling has been preserved.
In our design, we aimed to bring back a touch of nobility to the rooms that has long been lost from the buildings, while also incorporating something of the original form – the wooden beam ceiling and parquet floors. The other materials and elements are completely contemporary. The bathrooms primarily use gray concrete plaster, complemented by Italian tiles from Mutina and faucets in a British gold finish by Fantini. Gold permeates the entire interior. In the rooms, it appears on the wallpapers and the central brass light fixture. The furniture is made as a custom piece from distressed oak. The interior is complemented by gray blackouts and bedding. The black steel elements of the wardrobes and pendant lights by Buster and Punch material-wise and color-wise balance the space as a whole. The design also includes a careful selection of paintings.
