A wooden chalet or the latest materials contrasting with the landscape? The new development project Klínovec Meadows, which literally grew "on green fields" at the foot of Mount Klínovec in the Krušné Mountains, did not take either of these paths. The row of ski apartments gives the impression of a residence that someone has uprooted from an urban setting and placed on the crest of a mountain ridge.
The client's brief for two of these apartments, which he chose to connect into one unit, made the answer all the more pressing: how should such an apartment feel inside? The investor longed for a space that would evoke a mountain atmosphere while having a character different from his urban home.
As soon as he first saw the pine boards for the floor, a material once widely used and recently unjustly neglected, the decision was made. Their beautiful grain was love at first sight. The next step was to choose the right material for the furniture – one that would highlight the rich colors of the floor. The choice fell on ash, which has a structure similar to pine, stained in light and dark tones. Rustic atmosphere is further complemented by large-format travertine stone cladding panels in both the main bathroom and the living space.
On the ground floor, a Canadian-style men's club was created with dark wall cladding, dominated by a massive see-through fireplace. Immediately behind it, the ladies’ part of the company finds comfort in a long Rolf Benz sofa. The second part of the entrance floor features a "farmhouse kitchen" dressed in light ash.
The upper floor is dominated by the owners' bedroom with a spacious boudoir - a bathroom and a dressing room merged into one unit. Here too, the pine floor and stone prevail, while the ash – this time in a light finish – complements it unobtrusively. Of course, there are guest rooms with their own facilities.
I believe that thanks to the space the client provided us during the design process, a place was created where the owner will gladly settle into an armchair and gaze into the roaring fireplace with a glass in hand during a dreary snowstorm...
