Until recently, the name Zaha Hadid was associated more with unachievable visions than with realized buildings. However, a look at her earlier works still amazes even current hotel guests, as the bed linens are printed with her designs.
The interiors, just like her entire buildings, play with organic forms, a sense of frozen fluidity, or suspended movement. Upon opening the elevator doors on the first floor of the Puerta América hotel, a landscape unfolds that guests may have already experienced at the Ice-Storm exhibition. This space is additionally dominated by a chandelier called Chandelier Vortexx, which Zaha Hadid designed last year for Zumtobel Staff. Thanks to LED lights, the chandelier can smoothly change its illumination and remain ice-cold (as the LEDs produce only minimal heat).
The rooms give the impression of being cast from a single piece. The bed, coffee table, bathtub, sink, and other furniture seamlessly emerge from the walls and floors into the interior space. The bathtub in the bathroom transforms into the sink, with a ledge for placing towels growing out below it. The toilet bowl by Stefano Giovannoni for Alessi perfectly resonates with Zaha Hadid's futuristic visions. Indirect lighting in the interior emanates from folds and spatial fissures. Even the trash bins were designed exclusively for this hotel, and one could go on. This small miracle was made possible by the LG Hi-Macs material from the German company Rosskopf und Partner.

The 28 rooms designed by Zaha Hadid on the first floor of the Puerta América hotel are equipped with air conditioning, a safe, wireless internet access, and a minibar. Prices for double rooms start at 161 Euros per night.
