The aim of this small-scale but socially important project was to create a new dignified information centre that will further attract visitors to the site and communicate adequately with the visitors of the monument.
The information centre itself, was built into the former bistro with a take away window in the public toilet building, built around 2016 according to the design of arch. Kabelík.
The entire building was modernised as part of the construction of the information centre, with the aim of adapting it to the new function and also responding to the changing needs of society and relationships in the locality. Last but not least, the aim was to adapt the building according to the principles applied by the NCMV management across the entire site with the higher goal of aestheticizing and simplifying orientation throughout the site.
Communication with the visitors is essential for the functioning of the information centre, which is now provided by large fixed glazing complemented by a solid door with a distinctive wooden handle. The optical communication is presenting the programme to passers-by.
The visitor is guided through the information centre by a distinctive organically shaped light line, which leads from the entrance through the orientation plan of the complex and a display case with souvenirs, to the artisanal information desk. The line is symbolically suspended on 24 hangers and its shaping is a reference to the modulation of Vyšehrad.
The material solution is solid, has a simple timeless aesthetic and is based on traditional solutions and principles used within the complex. Traditional plaster, cast red terrazzo, oak timber and blacksmithing elements are used.
