LocationWhen describing the location of this work, it is necessary to start in broader contexts. The eastern Slovak town of Humenné may seem untrustworthy in terms of modernity or relevance of contemporary architecture due to its remoteness on the map.
Because of this fact, the authors sought to combine multiple aspects and "satisfy" various needs, from a light stylish original concept to modest or purist elegance, which offers a venue for a wide range of visitors.
Within the city, the café is located in the ground floor of a multifunctional building, at the linear type square in the given junction, making it one of the most central elements, which is certainly its unmatched advantage.
LayoutThe given space had a generous height, and therefore, a division into two zones was proposed, on both horizontal and vertical levels. The resulting platform divided the space, softened the height in that part, and added more intimacy. However, it kept the space fully visually connected.
The area of the bar with high seating not only at the bar itself but also at high bar tables is dominated by a front wall with a striking black-and-white wallpaper and a 3D sign of jazz_café.
Material and Color SolutionThe interior approach of the space appears cohesive and uniform, thanks to the chosen color scheme of strong black and white contrast. This timeless combination, which possesses a lot of mysterious, humbly luxurious, and above all, timeless qualities, together with discreet interior elements, created a clear and pure impression that speaks to visitors in this city in undeniably contemporary language. Thus, the purpose of this work is also "the enlightenment of modern architecture" in these regions.
Furniture elements such as chairs and tables from Italian and Spanish design brands confirm the authenticity and simple, clean design of the bar, which only crowns it.
A distinctive accent and actually the only "color" (besides the monochromatic black and white combination) is the color-changing backlight of the bar and the shelving unit behind it, which subtly shifts the mood of the space (it should be noted, very slowly).
The simple starkness of the contrasting colors and the cleanliness of the shapes is softened and given a decorative detail by the wall wallpaper with an abstract pattern, which adds an interesting "manner" to the entire space.
Atmosphere and Spirit of the Café...pleasant jazz music, quality coffee, the aroma of relationships, meetings, and today's precious personal conversations...the original interior design strives to contribute to this with humility.
