Urban Planning Solution

The chapel is located along a forest path on a gentle slope near a pond. It is the most suitable site for placing a memorial chapel on the estate's land, away from main roads and with good pedestrian access. The place evokes a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere during walks. This small spiritual structure will complement the character of the local cultural landscape.

Architectural Solution

The form of the chapel stems from the client's requirement for historical shapes, utilizing classical materials and constructions. At the same time, the classical form is interpreted in a simple shape and detail.
The chapel creates a quiet inner space designed for contemplation and remembrance. The use of natural materials is meant to symbolize a connection with nature and its timelessness.
The chapel forms a unified enclosed space with an entrance oriented towards the forest path, directed toward visitors. The broken arch is the fundamental compositional shape and geometry shaping the architecture of the chapel, projecting in front of the gable wall, with its apex extending beyond the vertical line and slanting down towards the path. The actual facade enclosing the inner space is made of transparent wooden latticework from oak wood with embedded expanded metal. The entrance doors are double-winged, symmetrically placed on the main axis of the facade.
Emphasis is placed on maximum simplicity and austerity of the inner space. The vault of the inner nave is made from light-colored ash wood. Above the altar, a cross made of steel plates is embedded at the apex of the arch. The intersection of the cross's arms creates a place for a candle, fire, as a symbol of the undying love and forgiveness of the heart of Christ.
