As part of the Squat iD23 project, we were in a somewhat different situation in the residential building located at Pařížská Street No. 23 in Prague than the other architects collaborating on this project. Three years ago, we developed an architectural study for the solution of inserting apartments into the attic space.
The goal was to create 3 apartments of approximately 250 m² each with the maximum number of bedrooms, with each bedroom having its own bathroom and two of the apartments having access to a rooftop terrace. These apartments are designated as C, D, and E within the Squat
iD23 project. The apartments are intended for rent, so they were to be made of practical materials, easy to maintain, conservative yet timeless. The final appearance was meant to be such that it could be continually modified, while the fixed built-in parts of the apartment (bathrooms, lighting, floors, kitchens, doors, and built-in storage spaces) would remain unchanged.
The foundation for the study was the attic space and the apartment area on the top floor. To fit 3 floors within the attic space, the clear height of the apartment floor was reduced to the possible minimum.
At the turn of this year, the idea arose to organize the Squat iD23 exhibition. We allocated two of the completed apartments for furnishing by Lenka Míkova (apartment E) and Jerry Koz from the SAD studio (apartment C). The apartments on the 3rd and 4th floors were subsequently realized by the studio OOOOX (apartment B) and Ivanka Kowalski (apartment A), according to the layout of the apartments on the top floor.
We later furnished apartment D with the company Innex, where the greatest credit goes to Monika Ciprová, who designed the entire shading system, sofas, chairs, bedding, and other decorations for the apartment.
