The building is situated close to the Poprad river which interconnects the Slovak - Polish border. For over 30 years the International Family Rafting has been taking place here. It starts in Stará Ľubovňa and continues towards Poland. From this long-lasting tradition arose the need for boat keeping and maintenance facilities.
Chosen location is situated near the river, cycling path, but also in proximity to other sport complexes and thus completes and widens the activity offer in the town. It actively involves the river and offers new points of view at the same time.
In the following stages, the addition of shipyard equipment, building the connection to the river for boats and partial revitalization of the surrounding was done.
The form of the shipyard is a block finished by a lean-to roof. There is a space that is brightened by polycarbonate walls from both sides, where the entrances to the building are located. This allows the entrance to the boat stock from both sides, which is practical in operation. There is the storage and changing rooms for the participants of the rafting in the lower part of the roof. Boats are kept in three rows at the edge of the building. The storage of boats vertically is made possible by manual hoist. Structurally, it is a wooden building with a facade of spruce boards interlaced over each other. With no finish. Gable walls are sheathed by tubular polycarbonate. The roof is made of trapezoidal sheet.
