Urban sculpture Grashopper

The meadow grasshopper is called grasshopper in English. After all, we are in Austria, so every noun starts with a capital letter. To partially understand the locals, the second 'S' is dropped from the word grass in German, it is called der Grashüpfer. This creates a play on words presented by the avant-garde group BKK-3, which enjoys playing a lot. With structures, words, and if you take a look at their home pages, you will see that they also enjoy playing football - with somewhat modified rules. (pš)



On the urban circuit, it has turned green: the urban sculpture in front of the incubation center IP.TWO on Ottakring creates an irritating urban landscape along the entire length of the building. What is flourishing excessively here are green-painted metal blades of grass, which adorn the staircase arm and transform it into a 'multifunctional artistic object' (BKK-3). Its value is not only visual but also in urban utility, as it separates the busy circuit nearby from pedestrians and the entrance to the building. Additionally, it offers a view of the stress-induced traffic from a nice elevated perspective. The object serves not only the office building but also, when needed, as an entrance to the neighboring restaurant and as a summer garden. Most recently, the 'grasshopper' demonstrated its eligibility as a 'catwalk'. One day, white horses were rearing up in the tall grass here - or were they really unicorns?
