Most Control Tower

The emerald jewel located on the bridge over the Walcheren canal serves its purpose only six times a year, when the bridge operator enters and lowers it to allow a boat to pass through. For the rest of the time, it functions as a transformer station. From the upper part of the glass crystal, the operator enjoys an unobstructed panoramic view in all directions. The green color of the control tower relates to the copper roof of the nearby abbey. The authors refer to their design as “a kind of folly in the water”, but it is clear that they have managed to transform a boring technical structure into an enjoyable sculpture that serves its purpose only six times a year, but delights the eye of passersby every day.
