Red cube on Monte BůWe were brainstorming the baseball locker rooms at Kraví Hora with Petr Goleš during long winter evenings in pubs; just for fun.
We met like two conspirators at Kotlářská and talked about what could be built at Kraví Hora, what the club needed, and so on. The engineering team had on paper a proposal for an extension of the locker rooms in the spirit of the existing clubhouse, to which we responded.
Gradually, we refined an alternative design with a construction program: two locker rooms for home players and two for visiting players + restrooms, the club manager's office, a referee's locker room, a boiler room, and storage lockers for the individual teams' equipment.
We enclosed this plan in a red box and connected it to the existing building through the outdoor staircase. In the basement, we found 6 brand new plastic windows, which we included in our proposal.
The engineering team accepted our proposal and implemented it. Today, the locker rooms stand, everything is completed and approved. I walk by and see little boys running around the field, dreaming of playing in the Major Leagues one day. Their mothers chat in a group while rocking strollers. And fathers sip beer on the terrace, dissecting the current situations on the field as the biggest experts.
And that's how we imagined it back in that pub.
