Translation

The object is three stories tall, with a significantly recessed fourth floor that serves as the technical background for the facility, housing machine rooms, a boiler room, and electrical substations. The total height of the building is approximately 16.6 meters. The structure is topped with a flat roof, so the main volume of the building forms a clear rectangular prism. In context with the function of the building and the character of the location, the facades are also styled accordingly. The facades are conceptually shaped primarily by their own layout. While the parts of the facades that conceal the storage spaces are solid, substantial, and have minimal openings, the entrance area and the adjoining three-story visitor hall are entirely glassed, creating transparency throughout.

In collaboration with my colleague Milan Matyáš, we designed a new building - an extension of the storage warehouse for the Moravian Gallery in Brno (MG). The building is attached to the existing storage warehouse of MG located in Brno-Řečkovice on Tereza Nováková Street. It is a relatively operationally simple storage facility with three above-ground floors. The object is complex in terms of technical systems, especially ventilation. It must maintain a stable internal environment for the stored collection items. The building is conceived as an open deposit with the possibility of regulated public visits. The building received a special jury award in the 2024 Building of the Year competition.
