Visitors to the summer concerts in the Grafenegg castle garden can now enjoy refreshments during breaks at the pavilion 'Oblak 7', which comes from the Vienna studio
next ENTERprise also responsible for
'Tower of Clouds', where the entire music festival takes place. Unlike the aggressively raised grandstand in the middle of the meadow, the restaurant pavilion is situated in seclusion, where the organically shaped roof weaves between the trunks of tall plane trees and pines. The concrete roof rests on ten slender steel columns. The undulating roof landscape, which, according to the author, is meant to resemble a sheet of paper, is sloped to a single point, from where rainwater is channeled away by a large gargoyle. Under the roof, the technical facilities, serving counter, and bar tables are freely placed. The light canopy enhances visitors' perception of the beauty of the surrounding park in combination with a gourmet experience. Last year, the project won the prestigious Austrian award Bauherrenpreis 2017, granted to buildings for exemplary collaboration between architect and client.
