Revitalization of Brewery Terraces in the Center of VimperkWe are restoring the original geometry of the terraces, which we complement with a new upper terrace – a viewpoint of the castle connected to the passage of the Golden Road through the town. We define the terraces as enclosed gardens behind a wall and focus on the habitability of this public space/community area. The atmospheres and functions of the terraces are composed in the rhythm of active and relaxing areas. We propose maximum accessibility of the terraces via ramps (strollers, bikes, carts). The terraces become a distinctive and valuable space in the city center that has the potential to be used by Vimperk residents of all ages. We view the reconstruction of the terraces as an impulse for the transformation of the entire area and for functional interaction with the surrounding buildings of the brewery and other urban structures. The reconstruction also included uncovering the bed of the Křesanovský Stream and the construction of public toilets.
