The new IVB building (Innsbruck Transport Company and Stubaital Railway) is located on the southern edge of the historic center of the capital of Tyrol. In close proximity lies the monastery with a rococo-style basilica of Wilten and an extensive cemetery, as well as the premises of the pedagogical college with adjacent sports facilities. The reconstruction and expansion of the original administrative building from the 1970s was not an economically viable solution, which is why the building was demolished and a competition was announced in 2010, won by the design of local architect Peter Lorenz.

The new operational building aims to create a representative façade from Pastorstraße to the entire transport company's premises, which includes the tram depot, bus depot, and the museum of the local railway. The linearity of the entire four-story building is emphasized by strip windows and blinds made of perforated sheet metal. The protruding façade also prevents overheating of the generously glazed structure. The dynamic is further enhanced by the cantilevered entrance area, through which all buses and trams enter the premises. The entrance gate, which extends more than twenty meters, is supported by only one column in the shape of a V. The entire structure seems to float above a partially sunken parking lot for employees. A rational reinforced concrete skeleton is serviced by two communication cores. The central corridor is illuminated through copilit partitions. Above two floors of offices, on the top floor, which occupies only half the total length of the building, there is a series of meeting rooms with an adjacent roof terrace, offering a view of the entire transport company premises, the nearby city center, and the magnificent mountains on the horizon.
