Reconstruction of the apartment Veleslavín

Reconstruction of the apartment Veleslavín
The apartment is located on the raised ground floor of a small apartment building from 1922.
The quiet courtyard with a garden was the biggest impetus for the purchase of this apartment. It was therefore natural to place the main living room facing the garden and to open it up more to the exterior. The orientation towards the cardinal directions also supported this; it faces the street to the east and the courtyard (garden) to the west.
Unfortunately, apart from the entrance door, no original elements were preserved in the apartment that could be worked with during the renovation. The reconstruction could therefore be and was quite radical.
The layout was reversed - the larger living room with a kitchenette was created by combining the original kitchen and bathroom. Conversely, the originally large room facing the street was divided into a newly built bathroom and the bedroom.
In designing the interior, the intention was to reconnect the apartment with the period of the building's construction. Traditional oak floorboards (parquet) arranged in double herringbone were chosen for the floors, and smaller tiles were used in the bathroom. The original entrance door could not be refurbished and was therefore replaced with a replica. The rest of the interior was designed in a contemporary manner.
Given the small floor area of the apartment, built-in furniture was considered from the beginning to utilize every inch. Most of the furniture is made of pine plywood stained in a gray-blue color, while the bookshelf by the window and the bench are stained white. Where there is contact with water, dark blue compact Fundermax board with a black core is used.
The color scheme of the interior is restrained, with a white-black palette complemented by various shades of blue. In the future, it is anticipated that artwork will be added to provide additional color accents. For now, the only, but all the more beautiful artwork is the view into the garden.
