The plot, along with the Church of St. Gothard, forms the historical core of the Prague-Bubeneč district. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Royal Game Reserve, in a relatively calm environment. The character of the area is defined by the late Baroque appearance of the church and other historical buildings in the vicinity. The original Romanesque chapel was built in the first half of the 12th century, and in 1801 it was demolished and a new temple was constructed in its place. Next to it stands the rectory building, which has been expanded with two annexes in the 1930s and 1950s.
The current renovation of the rectory highlights the original Baroque building, cleansing it of later additions. These have been transformed to maintain their functional use while also respecting the historical building. Both annexes (the northern restroom area and the western parish office) are clad in beige marble. The annexes, thanks to generous glazing, only "touch" the historical building, and both are single-story. We approached the actual building of the Baroque rectory with utmost sensitivity. The construction modifications primarily involved the restoration of original structures, replacement of technical installations, the installation of a parish kitchen and bathroom in the priest's apartment, and the widening of the door opening between the social room and the salon. The windows were refurbished, the original plaster was restored, and the roofing was renewed.
