The Suzuki showroom is located at the entrance to Banská Bystrica from the direction of Zvolen, in close proximity to the four-lane expressway - a pulsating traffic artery connecting both cities. The location represents an emerging commercial part of the city, where other brand dealers such as Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Toyota, Kia, etc., are also present.
The architectural solution and the construction technical design of the building were influenced by the investor's location program, the framework design manual of the Suzuki brand, the requirements to comply with thermal engineering standards, and the elimination of overheating of the western facade, as well as the technical and structural conditions of the original object. The task of the reconstruction had to cope with predefined investment costs, which led us to the idea of partially utilizing the original steel elements of the building.
The showroom is conceived as a "display" for the vehicles being sold - the building fully opens to potential clients passing by the adjacent roads with its front fully glazed facade. The effect of the display is most pronounced in the evening hours. The angled side sections give the building dynamism, while maximizing the utilization of the land area.
The original unsuitable showroom structure was not preserved much in the course of the reconstruction. Only the essential load-bearing structures were utilized, including steel columns and the original steel trusses, which, after reinforcement and rotation of 180 degrees, continue to cover the main part of the building.
The building is designed in two height levels. The two end sections are lower, while the middle part is higher with an inserted gallery for administrative purposes. There are office spaces for the owner, the accounting department, a server, and a coffee kitchen. The offices are separated from the hallway by fully glazed walls. The gallery was realized by spanning the space with a continuous steel truss hidden in the railing of the hallway, over a span of 20 meters, with subsequent anchoring of the floor construction. A unifying element of the original buildings is the massive continuous white wall in the interior, with perforation delineated by the original openings. Relocating the administration to the upper floor allowed increasing the sales area to the value required by the importer. The role of the middle part of the building is also to attract visitors from distant views on Zvolenská Road. Here, advertising displays - the seller's designation and the brand of the sold vehicles - are placed. The main entrance is situated on the front facade from the existing parking lot. Directly opposite the entrance is the reception desk - information point. Left of the reception is the sales area, while on the right is the service reception with a connection to the spare parts warehouse, employee facilities, and the service hall itself. The showroom with exhibited vehicles is located continuously in the front part of the building for the best visibility from the exterior. The design of the facades is intentionally simple to monochromatic / combination of insulation system, glass, Ruukki facade panels/, with the displayed vehicles being dominant. Given the western orientation of the "display," the glass is tinted green. To secure another form of sun protection, the construction is prepared for exterior horizontal blinds that can be installed if needed. Above the ground floor, the mentioned administrative spaces are accessible via an open staircase. The staircase made of structured steel sheet is clad with a dark wood imitation - linking the corporate design of the Suzuki brand with the original industrial steel elements.
In the courtyard section, a canopy is designed for placing dispatched vehicles and a separate operational entrance to the service part of the building.
