Family house in Hradištko

Family house in Hradištko
Completion:2005-07
Area:161 m2
Built Up Area:130 m2

The house stands at the junction of a cottage settlement, the end of the village of Hradištko, and the forest that stretches towards the Medník massif. This connection created a nicely oriented parcel, which, having been further enhanced by mature trees and shrubs, provided a beautiful entry material. Therefore, from the beginning, I approached the original planting with respect and tried not to disrupt it with the construction, but rather to draw it into the interior. In addition, the position of the house aims to articulate the boundary between the forest and the garden, between the utilitarian and the aesthetic, between cold and sun.
Previously, there was a cottage on the site of the current garage, a classic filling of cottage settlements: a stone foundation, a wooden house with a glazed veranda. This served as my inspiration, both in terms of form and material, for a lighter expression, which the new house should also maintain: a solid base in the form of a concrete rigid prism of the ground floor and the wood-constructivist lightness of the upper floor, highlighted by exposing the load-bearing frames towards the exterior. The quotation of the stone foundation also found its place, repeated on the chimney, traditional stone components of cottages, which tie these dwellings to the elements of fire and earth.
