Family house in Smilovice

Family house in Smilovice

The design of the family house is based on the principles of Beskydy folk architecture, and the building plot is located on the edge of the village of Smilovice in the Protected Landscape Area of Beskydy.

An overhead high-voltage power line runs through the addressed parcel, and its protective zone was an important parameter when placing the family house on the plot. The family house is designed as a compact one-story building with a living attic. The rectangular mass of the house is topped with a gable roof, complemented by a shed dormer on the southern side. The layout of the house is very simple: on the ground floor, there is a social zone with the main living space leading to the terrace, while the bedrooms are located in the attic. Both the ground floor and the attic are oriented with glass surfaces to the south, providing a view of the Beskydy panorama.

The owners of the house, the Kapitanov couple, had a relationship with modern architecture from the very beginning of the collaboration, along with a sense for details and current technologies, which was reflected in the final form of the house.
