After some time, we accepted the challenge in the mountains, in Wallachia, in the village of Vidče near Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. We designed a smaller family house, a simple timber construction based on the historical characteristics of Wallachian buildings, established on a rectangular floor plan, with an entrance from the middle part and with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The symbol of the area is the nearby mountain Radhošť.
The house is located on the upper part of the buildable plot. A natural path leads to the house's courtyard, formed on one side by the family house and on the other side by a parking area and an outdoor storage shed.
The common living area with a kitchenette is dominated by a large window with a sill designed for sitting and overlooking the majestic tree standing on the property. The tree – wood is the main theme of the designed exterior and interior. From the entrance hall with storage spaces, one can enter through a corridor to the master bedroom, shared bathroom, or guest rooms.
In collaboration with the investors, the design emerged utilizing natural materials – a single-story timber building with a ventilated larch façade. The saddle-shaped metal roof in a dark shade is suitable for the landscape of the Beskid Mountains. The unifying element of the house is the surrounding wooden terrace. Access to the terrace from the house is possible through large-format windows with aluminum frames.
