Ateliér k světu. unites architects, construction experts, and a myriad of other professionals under one roof, establishing itself as a prominent architectural and design firm based in Plzeň.
Sauna k světu. emerged as a small project within the studio, born out of the idea to turn sauna sessions into an experience accessible to as many people as possible. A mobile sauna proved to be the ideal solution.
„The project is unique for us mainly because we designed and built the sauna ourselves. Eventually, we would like to rent it out or build more on commission,“ says the author Jakub Mareš.
Crafted entirely from wood, including its load-bearing framework, the sauna boasts a weather-resistant facade fashioned from seasoned timber, complemented by a distinctive circular window that serves as its hallmark design element. Designed for mobility, the sauna can be relocated with ease using a crane and operates autonomously or as a transportable unit, as initially envisioned. Its adaptable placement ensures each setting offers a unique view.
Operating under the auspices of k světu., the annual Náplavka k světu. festival in Plzeň provided an optimal platform for introducing the sauna to the public. Temporarily stationed at the confluence of the Mže and Radbuza rivers during the event, it remains the studio’s intention to maintain public accessibility. The envisioned concept involves the sauna traversing diverse locales, with potential sites including the picturesque Bolevec Pond.
