Company headquarters PAWLICA

Company headquarters PAWLICA
Address: Drnovská 1118/53a, Ruzyně, Prague, Czech Republic
Completion:11 / 2013

The building was designed for the company PAWLICA s.r.o., which deals with the technology of drying and storing commodities.
The structure contains administrative spaces and residential areas on the 2nd floor. The architectural solution was strongly influenced by the specifics of the land: an elongated shape, access to the plot from the short southern side, and walls bordering the parcel.
The result of responses to these specifics is an elongated building, set against the eastern boundary of the plot, opening the garden space in the western and northern parts.
The ground floor is designed as recessed, with a covered promenade running beneath the overhang of the upper floor. Entrances to the building are accessed from this promenade. The mass of the upper floor simultaneously serves as shading and protection against the elements for the glazed facade on the ground floor. The facade on the upper floor, in contrast, is designed as a wall with a continuous band window, which transitions into massive balconies in the southern entrance part and the northern part. Access to the apartment unit on the upper floor is provided via a staircase and bridge from the eastern part. On the roof of the building, there is a small prism-shaped structure for access to the terrace.
Structurally, the building is designed as a reinforced concrete monolithic skeleton, with aluminum windows, and the facades are insulated with mineral wool, featuring a two-layer, ground plaster finish. The building is heated by an air-to-water heat pump.
