Tsport Votice

Tsport Votice

The tennis center has grown on a plot near Masaryk Square close to the center of Votice. The square currently lacks the characteristics of a functional public space. The complicated plot is distorted by the existing courts, which had to be preserved in their original position, as well as the Sokol building and its grounds to the south.
On the other hand, the quality of the site lay in the presence of mature linden trees in its eastern part next to the Sokol building, where the land borders Masaryk Square.
We are placing the entrance in this location, thus defining the corner of the square along with the beginning of Sukova Street. This space has thus gained the appropriate revival. By extending the empty space and greenery into the mass of the building, we create a pleasant entrance in the form of an outdoor atrium, which allows for a breath before and after sports activities.
The relatively space-consuming construction program, which included another outdoor court, a covered tennis hall with two courts, a universal sports room, facilities for athletes, and a café with bowling, was divided into three parts, with the covered tennis hall dominating in volume. This part is placed in the southern part of the plot behind the Sokol building, where it will have minimal visual impact within the addressed area.
The building with the bowling alley is placed at the street line of Sukova Street. To reduce the scale in the context of the surrounding buildings, this façade is designed with a subdivision in the form of a wooden grid, which seamlessly transitions into the fence on the eastern side of the plot.
The backroom located between the bowling building and the hall serves as a visual and operational filter between the entrance atrium and the tennis courts. The transparent façade that defines the shape of the atrium brings the outdoor greenery into the interior of the café and allows for a connection between these spaces through its openness.
It creates a visual connection between indoor and outdoor activities. This is further supported by the placement of a generous window facing Sukova Street, where interesting moments began to emerge as passersby can watch their neighbors while they are engaged in sports and other activities.
