Vejminek
The house that the parents are moving into to make room for the new generation. The new home was to be located on the same plot as the existing building in its close proximity, yet separate, so that both generations would not get on each other's nerves.

The original building was no orange mess. Although the house was built relatively recently, it was a classic village house with a clear rectangular floor plan and a gable roof, a gable clad in boards that had beautifully aged over time, traditional lime plaster, and a massive stone plinth.

We took the characteristic features of the building and found the right place for it on the plot so that it would not overshadow the original house, so it would have views on the right sides, to create privacy for its inhabitants, while still being close enough for grandma to bring fresh pastries to the grandchildren.

This was followed by several variants of the floor plan that responded to the snoring grandpa or the views of the mature trees.

During the actual implementation, several decisions were made that made the house exceptional, not exceptional for me as the author, but for the client. The decisions arose from dialogue, and the client embraced them and values the house even more.

We used a classic construction method of truss, revealing the beams and the soffit, which needed to be manually sanded. This gave them an unrepeatable patina that became a significant interior element. Large windows and a metal roof then give the whole a modern appearance. The “annex” was simply a response to a specific place and a specific client.
