At the exit of the Prague tunnel Blanka near Stromovka, Czech-Argentinian artist Federico Díaz has placed his artwork. He surrounded the concrete tube with 176 artistically processed pieces, created using a special robot from ABB. All works will be completed by the end of May. Radek Stavěl shared this information on behalf of the art studio and the company with ČTK. The construction site was handed over to Díaz's studio by the capital city last August. The modification will cost approximately 30 million crowns. Díaz has exhibited in cities such as London, Tokyo, and Florence.
The concrete exit is covered with 176 artistically processed pieces measuring 130 by 235 centimeters, each of which is unique. To create them, he used the aforementioned robotic arm. "I have been working with robots since 2008, but for the relief on the outlet, we developed a new technique that allowed for a work of such large scale," said Díaz.
As part of the installation of the outlet with the artwork, the surrounding area is also being renewed. A recreational zone with exercise elements and benches has been created for the public over an area of about 1000 square meters.
The appearance of the outlet has been a long-term discussion. In 2006, when the construction of Blanka began, a working group was established by Prague 7 to address it. Díaz won the competition. However, the artistic modification was ultimately approved only by the previous city leadership.
