BiographyClément Van Bogaert was a Belgian engineer and builder, best known for his designs of steel structures. After graduating from the École du Génie Civil in Ghent (1878), he joined the state railway company, where his organizational skills were recognized and in 1882 he became a "fully-fledged railway engineer." In 1896 he was awarded the Knight's Leopold Order, and in 1897 he was promoted to chief engineer of the Belgian State Railways.
