The newly released book titled "Čiperova vila" will be introduced at the exhibition in the villa by its authors - curators of the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín, Ladislava Horňáková and Vít Jakubíček. The event will take place for interested members of both the lay and professional public on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 5 PM at the villa of Dominik Čipera, Burešov 3675/4 in Zlín. The authors of the publication, Ladislava Horňáková and Vít Jakubíček, present Dominik Čipera as one of the closest collaborators of Tomáš Baťa, as a significant representative of the company management and the mayor of Zlín, as well as a personality who participated in the economic, social, and cultural development of the city. "A significant part of the book is dedicated to the villa itself, built between 1939 and 1942 according to the design of architect Vladimír Karfík. The publication follows the life of the Čipera family in Zlín, the appearance of the original interiors, the fate of the house after 1945, and its recent reconstruction and transformation into a cultural and creative center of the Zlin Region," explains one of the authors of the book, Vít Jakubíček. "At the same time, the villa is placed in the broader context of Baťa's housing and interwar villa architecture in Zlín. The texts are accompanied by a number of archival documents, plans, period photographs, and contemporary images," adds co-author Ladislava Horňáková. The artistic and graphic design of the publication was prepared by Zlín artist and graphic designer Zdeněk Macháček and STUDIO 6.15 s.r.o. Archival materials were also provided by Dominik Čipera's granddaughter, Michelle Čipera. The Čiperova villa, which includes an extensive area with a garden and a gardener's house, was designed by architect Vladimír Karfík for one of the most significant representatives of the Baťa company's management, Dominik Čipera. For Zlín, the Čiperova villa holds the same significance as the Müller villa does for Prague or the Tugendhat villa for Brno. Part of the reconstructed and recently opened villa of Dominik Čipera is an exhibition prepared by the regional gallery, which presents the creation and fate of the building, the interwar residential and villa construction of the Baťa company, as well as the life story of its owner with his family. Visitors can access this architectural and cultural monument, which was awarded the Building of the Year Zlín Region 2026, from Tuesday to Sunday during the hours of 10:00–12:30 and 13:00–18:00. "The Čiperova villa has been in operation for almost half a year following extensive reconstruction and has already been visited by thousands of people. I am glad that this architectural gem has made a significant mark among the cultural and tourist destinations of Zlín. For the Zlín Region, as the owner and investor, the reconstruction costing 202 million crowns represented a great responsibility. However, today we see that the decision to restore the villa was the right one. The new publication is another piece in its story, and a big thank you for it goes to my colleagues from the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín," states Ivan Lásek, the Regional Councilor for Culture of the Zlín Region. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn interesting information not only about the new book but also about the Čiperova villa itself from those most qualified. Participation in the event is free, and in case of favorable weather, it will be held outside in front of the villa.
