BiographyGwynne Pugh is an American architect from Cardiff, Wales. He grew up in Greece and Turkey. He started studying at university in 1971 while simultaneously working at the London engineering firm Posford Pavry & Partners. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Leeds and a master's degree in architecture from UCLA. After gaining experience in smaller firms in the Los Angeles area, he established his own studio in 1984. In 1988, he brought on
Lawrence Scarpa, and in 1991, they co-founded Brooks + Scarpa, where he worked until 2010. He subsequently established his own Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio in Los Angeles. Pugh is primarily known for incorporating environmentally friendly architecture in his designs and utilizing alternative energy sources.
