Biography
John Hutchinson came from the family of scarf manufacturer Archibald Hutchison from Fairhill. He received his education at college in Glasgow. In addition to his own practice in Paisley from 1896, he also worked in Glasgow with John Thomas Rochehead. His later successes largely depended on his assistants Andrew Black, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and Thomas Ramsay. In 1898, he was appointed an honorary member of RIBA.
