Biography
Matteo Ghidoni is an architect, editor-in-chief of the magazine San Rocco, and since 2005 a founding partner of the design laboratory Salottobuono based in Milan. In 2002, he obtained a master's degree in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture IUAV in Venice. From 2002 to 2006, he was a founding partner of the research agency Multiplicity. He served as the editor of the "Guides and Manuals" section of the magazine Abitare (2007-10) and as creative director of the magazine Domus (2011-12). He participated in the Venice Biennale (2008, 2012, 2014) and designed the Italian pavilion in 2010. Salottobuono published "Manual of Decolonization" (2010) and "Basic Acts" (2016).
He has served as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture IUAV in Venice, at the Politecnico in Milan, at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. He has lectured as a guest at several schools and institutions, including the Berlage Institute, Berkeley University of California, and Columbia University.
In 2014, Rem Koolhaas invited him - director of the 14th Venice Architectural Biennale - to participate with an independent research project "Ground Floor Crisis" in the Monditalia section at the Arsenale. In the same year, he was also selected through an international call for a fellowship to take on the role of director of OfficeUS: the national participation pavilion of the USA at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice.
Since 2010, he has been a co-founder and editor-in-chief of the independent international architecture publication San Rocco. The editorial team of San Rocco received the Icon Award in 2012 as the best emerging architectural practice. In 2013, the magazine also received a grant for organizations from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.
