Biography
Miroslav Kopřiva was an architect and engineer. From 1912 to 1916 and 1918 to 1920, he studied architecture at the Czech Technical University under professors J. Koula, J. Fanty, and A. Balšánek. Since 1935, he served as the chief architect of Košice, where he also worked at the new technical university, later moved to Bratislava. He was an urban planner for Moravian and Eastern Slovak cities and a university professor for more than one generation of Moravian, Slovak, and Eastern European architects. He was an initiator of the introduction of regulatory plans even for smaller towns. His classmate at the secondary school in Holešov was Bohuslav Fuchs. He studied at the University of Technology in Brno. From 1938 to 1948, he was a professor at the Technical University in Bratislava, and from 1947 to 1960, he was a professor at the University of Technology in Brno.
