Biography
Doc. Ing. arch. Pavel Halík, CSc. was a Czech historian, architectural theorist, educator, and translator, whose professional life was closely tied to the Cabinet of Architectural Theory of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec (2003-19). Together with Prof. Petr Kratochvíl, he helped to popularize contemporary architecture and translated seminal works by theorists Christian Norberg-Schulz and Kenneth Frampton for the Czech audience. He also taught the history of modern architecture at the Technical University in Oran, Algeria (1981-84) and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1990-97).
