Biography
Ren Ito is a Japanese architect based in Porto. He studied architecture and urban design at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan. In 2004, he obtained a master's degree in environmental design from the Architectural Association in London. From 1999 to 2002, he began his career at Fujita Corporation. From 2004 to 2011, he collaborated with Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. In 2011, he worked with architect Joaquim Portela and opened his own studio, Ren Ito Arq, in the same year. In 2005, he was awarded a Japanese government fellowship for artists. Since 2002, he has been an ambassador for the Rotary Foundation. He won the first prize in the 'Architecture at ZERO' competition organized by AIA California.
