Biography
Rui Jorge Garcia Ramos is a Portuguese architect and full professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), where he teaches in the master's program studio and theory. From 1983 to 2003, he led his own practice. He currently works as a researcher at the Center for the Study of Architecture and Urbanism and was the principal investigator of the interdisciplinary project "Mapping Public Housing in Portugal 1910-1974". His main fields of study include the spatial arrangements of the house; the relationship between culture and forms of housing; programs for mass housing; and currently developing a renewed understanding of "inclusive architecture" from aging to sustainability. At the University of Porto, he has held several leadership positions, including Vice-Rector for Facilities and Operations (2014-18), and is currently the chairman of the scientific council of FAUP.
