Biography
Ruy Ohtake was a Brazilian organic architect who, in addition to commercial (Hotel Unique, 2002) and public (Cultural Center Jacareí, 2014) buildings, also contributed to the cultivation of problematic favelas through social housing. He was the son of Japanese painter Tomie Ohtake, and his life was intertwined with the city of São Paulo. Throughout his more than fifty-year professional career, he managed to build 420 buildings, not shying away from using bold organic forms and vibrant colors. He graduated in architecture in 1960 from FAU-USP in São Paulo.
