Biography
He came from a legal family in the coastal town of Krška, but grew up in Maribor and Ljubljana, where he ultimately studied under Prof. E. Ravnikar. His work reflects a synthesis of the rational modernist approach of his teacher Edvard Ravnikar and the omnipresent Plečnik's traditional emphasis on detail. From this stemmed Sever's endeavor to enhance industrial structures with architectural elements. Among his most well-known buildings are the prefabricated parking garages Triplex and printing halls. Sever was a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU). In 1971, he received the Prešeren Award for significant architectural work and in 2003 the Plečnik Award for lifetime achievement and contribution to the development of Slovenian architecture.
