Stephen Cassel is a professor at Columbia University's GSAPP in New York and a founding member of the thirty-member Architecture Research Office (ARO) based in New York. His studio produces innovative and imaginative architecture that arises from constant research and engagement. In 2018, ARO received the Firm of the Year award from the New York AIA. In 2011, they received the National Design Award from the Cooper-Hewitt. In 2010, they were honored by the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
