Biography
He studied architecture at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Clemens Holzmeister and since 1956 worked as an independent architect. He was an honorary member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and in 1997 received the Upper Austrian Cultural Award.
Austrian architect Viktor Hufnagl was a pioneer of a new typology of school and residential buildings, understanding his profession as a socially and politically significant mission. He had a penchant for geometric arrangements and clearly legible forms. His school complexes in Weiz and Wörgl represented a significant turning point in post-war school building construction in Austria. He was able to realize his vision of a garden city in the residential complex on Gerasdorfer Straße in Vienna.
