Menšík Skrušný Architects + Builders is a traditional architectural and construction office that builds on the generation of Brno builders from the First Republic. Following the model of this now unconventional principle, the office is not only an architect and designer but also the actual investor, builder, and seller of the constructed properties. This principle allows for the maintenance of high quality and detail from the initial sketch, through the project with execution details, all the way to the sale of the property. This grouping includes not only architects but also designers, graphic designers, marketing specialists, and real estate agents.
In 2017, it was founded by two classmates from the Brno Faculty of Architecture, architects David Menšík and Petr Skrušný, together with the father of one of them, Brno architect and builder Petr Skrušný Sr.
The office was established while the two partners were still studying, which allowed the collective from the very beginning to be in contact with talented students not only from the field of architecture but also with experts from construction, traffic engineering, and graphic design. On the other hand, the office benefited from the oldest partner's established network of verified suppliers and specialists, enabling the creation of a stable system of production in this spirit. This approach has remained inherent to the office, resulting in collaboration with solid external developers. Nevertheless, the office still engages in all scales of creation, from small designs to comprehensive urban planning.
The office's goal is to create contemporary architecture that is rooted in tradition and grows out of its location. We stand for adequacy, timelessness, durability, quality, materiality, and the dignity of designs. We prefer architecture as a synergy of many professions over an individual approach, and we accompany our designs for as long as the specific assignment allows. We aim to engage with architecture at every scale, focusing on both small interior designs for social housing and generous urban planning proposals for the urban environment.
