Address: Doca do Bom Sucesso, Belém, Lisboa, Portugal
Investor:A Margem Actividades Hoteleiras
Project:2002
Completion:3.2006
Area:180 m2

The pavilion located on the coastal promenade of Doca do Bom Sucesso serves as a viewing terrace with a bar and restaurant.
The structure consists of a reinforced concrete basement measuring 13.90 m in length, 3.80 m in width, and 2.40 m in depth, which houses service rooms such as guest restrooms and staff facilities. On this concrete base rests the main structure composed entirely of white-painted steel beams. The floor and ceiling consist of horizontally positioned I-profile beams, which are arranged identically in both the bottom and top plates. Between them, there are additional vertically placed I profiles representing the side walls. The gaps between the steel profiles are filled with simple frameless glazing. The front and rear facades consist of glass sliding walls. This allows the pavilion to open completely and connect seamlessly with the adjacent promenade without any disruptive supporting elements.
The span of the beams, measured between the axes of the columns, is 15.20 m. The roof beams and two outer beams at ground level are made from IPE 500 profiles. The beams in the central area of the ground floor are made from HEB 200 profiles. All columns are made from IPE 500 profiles and are 3.0 m high.
