As part of the urbanization of a vast area around Vyskočilova Street in Prague 4 Michle, a new administrative building called Filadelfie has been constructed since 2010. Alongside the construction of the building, the neglected space between Želetavská and Baarova Streets has been revitalized into a park.
Although the Filadelfie building is situated in a relatively urbanized environment, we aimed to create a shape that would maximize setbacks from neighboring structures in our design. The cross-shaped form, diagonally oriented towards the adjacent roads, allowed us to maintain open space in the immediate vicinity and to conceive the building as a solitaire. The building is placed on a grassy area without a base, which surrounds Filadelfie and transitions into the aforementioned park.
The basic concept of a typical administrative floor of Filadelfie is a modified letter H. In the central part, there is a communication core from which the layout extends into four wings with office spaces. The opening of the wings into a cross shape provides above-average values of lighting in the interior environment and offers users panoramic views from any location at the façade.
The variability of the layout of a typical floor allows for its division into four separate administrative units or the use of the entire floor area for a single tenant. Staircases in the two larger wings allow internal connection between floors, providing tenants the possibility of utilizing several floors above each other.
Seventeen characteristically shaped above-ground floors, serving purely administrative functions, are complemented by six underground floors occupying the entire plot area at the ground level. The first basement is partially exposed at Želetavská Street due to the terrain morphology, creating a portal for the main entrances to the building. This floor contains spaces for commercial units. In the other five underground floors, parking spaces and technical equipment for the building have been designed.
