Reconstruction of a ground-floor apartment with a completely classic layout was the task from the client, and since we had already done one joint reconstruction a few years ago, this time he gave us complete freedom. The apartment was in very poor technical condition, but since the original owners left some of their original furniture in the apartment, we were inspired by that.
In terms of reconstruction, everything was done anew: floors, ceilings, stucco, cornices, floors, heating, refurbishment of the original windows, and replicas of the original doors, including the glass insert, which was designed based on an original fragment of glass. Everything we brought into the apartment anew was designed as completely modern and contemporary elements – kitchen, built-in furniture, elements, and surfaces of the bathroom. The link between these two poles is the original two pieces of furniture that we had renovated.
The choice of colors and materials was intentionally contrasting, with oak parquet in contrast to the concrete table top, delicate white stuccos, and rosettes that stand out against the black kitchen.
It is the detail and the interaction of the individual materials that create a subtle harmony, even though most of the new elements are made of cold materials like concrete and black lacquer. It’s precisely the interplay with the original historical framework of the entire reconstruction.
